The Real Leprechaun

My family was on holiday in Ireland.
We spent some time in Dublin.
It was December 30th 2010
We took our three boys and two nieces for a tour of the National Leprechaun Museum.
At the end of the visit I was inspired to write this short poem about my day.

                                            The Real Leprechaun

                                            Today I woke and rode
                                                    then ran
through the park of the Phoenix
                                              past a herd of deer
                                                  sleeping in the dark
                                               of a Dublin dawn.

                                              Came to the place of
                                                 the faery
                                               heard the story of Setanta
                                                    and the hound of Chulainn.

Sadness

Sad face.
Sad eyes.
(Remember the song)
A whole string of sadness.
My own son.
Attacked by a virus.
Me seeing him hurt and scarred.
Any tears?
Sad heart.
Body tense.
Lonely.
Lonely with sadness.
Alone.
Sadness all mine.
Buried down inside of me.
I've been keeping it.
Who can I share it with?
Careful with who you do share.
More hurt.
You?

Inverse

High Pressure
Yet the weather is so calm.
Peaceful.
It is as if there was no pressure.
No intense cloud,
thunder,
or bolt of lightning.
Small children
scamper about delighting in
an insect wing
or game of tag.

Summer
blue sky
and high pressure
long may you revist
to change the way we see the world.

Day 13/100

A Himalayan Pathway

I have walked a Himalayan pathway

In the dark, scared, with a long way to go.

noises barks howls.
Alone
Hungry
Cold
Tired

Been inside the inner room of the sacred
tower
awed
impressed
fascinated

Slept on the floors of lonely hillside farmhouses

and under the stars

Met the king.

I can do this.
